Industrial Electrician – PLC Programming Specialist
General Description
The Industrial Electrician – PLC Programming Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting our Electrical and Service team by performing installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in industrial settings. This position requires proficiency in programming and maintaining Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), ensuring efficient and safe operations across various projects. The role involves close collaboration with project teams and field personnel to deliver high-quality electrical solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components in industrial environments, adhering to project specifications and safety standards.
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs and HMIs to ensure seamless automation processes.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documents to guide installations and repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to minimize downtime and enhance system reliability.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to design and implement control systems.
- Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant regulations.
- Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately for future reference.
- Train and mentor junior electricians and apprentices as needed.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in electrical systems and PLC technologies.
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Key Competencies/Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an industrial electrician with a focus on PLC programming.
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages such as Ladder Logic, and experience with platforms like Allen-Bradley or Siemens.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory and the NEC.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 certification preferred.
