Lee Mechanical is providing comprehensive fire protection services for the new gymnasium and locker room addition at Gifford Elementary School, part of Racine Unified School District in Racine, Wisconsin.

Working in collaboration with General Contractor Scherrer Construction, this project supports the district’s ongoing investment in safe, modern learning environments. Construction is scheduled to take place between October 2025 and April 2026, with careful coordination around student breaks to minimize disruption to daily school operations.

As part of this project, Lee Mechanical is responsible for installing the fire sprinkler system, designed to meet current code requirements and support long-term safety goals. School construction presents unique challenges, particularly when work takes place on an active campus and requires careful coordination around other trades, especially in tight, confined areas such as locker rooms. Our team prioritizes thoughtful phasing, clean work practices, and close collaboration with the construction team to help ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors throughout the duration of the project.

At Lee Mechanical, we specialize in delivering fire protection solutions that keep buildings safe, compliant, and fully prepared. Our licensed and certified professionals draw on decades of experience installing, upgrading, and maintaining advanced fire sprinkler and fire protection systems throughout Wisconsin. From state-of-the-art sprinkler installations to fully integrated suppression solutions, we help ensure that facilities meet all regulatory standards while remaining reliable and easy to maintain.

The Gifford Elementary renovation and addition project includes a new gymnasium and locker room designed to enhance physical education and support the school community. Lee Mechanical’s fire protection scope plays a critical role in delivering a safe, functional space that will serve students for years to come.
