Welcome to a cherished chapter in the history of Lee Mechanical, where the legacy of baseball intertwines with our founding spirit. Kenosha’s own Bob Lee Sr., once a left-handed pitching marvel and former president of Lee Mechanical (1976-1983), embodies the heart and soul of our community and the relentless drive that powers our company today.

A Local Legend Takes the Field

Bob Lee Sr. emerged from the vibrant playgrounds of Kenosha, WI to command the baseball diamond with awe-inspiring skill. Without the structure of Little League or baseball clubs, Bob honed his craft against the backdrop of Roosevelt Road’s old Columbus School, turning every throw into a step towards greatness.

His high school years at Bradford High School were nothing short of legendary. In 1954, teaming up with Bob Hartman, Bob gave life to one of Wisconsin’s most formidable pitching duos. Despite the obstacles and the intensity of their competitions, Bob showcased a prowess that could only be described as natural talent personified.

The Road to the Minors

Bob’s ambition and raw talent caught the eye of the Milwaukee Braves, who saw in him not just a player, but a promise of greatness. Stepping into the minors, Bob embarked on a journey that would see him refine his skills, facing challenges head-on and evolving from a hard-thrower into a strategic pitcher under the guidance of mentors like Al Monchak.

Yet, as with many great sports tales, an injury threatened to sideline Bob’s dreams. Despite the setback, his spirit remained unbroken. Bob transitioned from player to pioneer, channeling his love for the game into the successful foundation of Lee Mechanical and later into bringing minor league baseball to Kenosha, a testament to his enduring passion and resilience.

The Kenosha Twins Era

Bob’s instrumental role in welcoming the Kenosha Twins (Class A Farm Team of the Minnesota Twins in the Midwest League) to Simmons Field marked a new chapter in the city’s rich sports heritage. His efforts laid the groundwork for nine years of baseball excellence, introducing the community to future major league stars and providing countless memories that still resonate within the heartbeats of Kenosha’s baseball fans.

But more than the cold games or the thrilling victories, it was the sense of community and the love for the game that defined the Kenosha Twins era. From legendary figures like the San Diego Chicken to major league comebacks on our local field, every moment resonated with Bob’s unwavering commitment to the sport and to his city.
