General Description

The Electrical Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, field personnel, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.

This position serves as a key liaison between the office and field, assisting with project documentation, procurement, scheduling, and financial tracking while gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of electrical project management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Project Managers with overall project execution, including planning, scheduling, and coordination.
  • Support the preparation and management of project budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting.
  • Process submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate material procurement and track deliveries to ensure alignment with project schedules.
  • Maintain accurate project records, including contracts, logs, and correspondence.
  • Assist with subcontractor and vendor coordination, including scope reviews and performance tracking.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Support project scheduling efforts and monitor progress against project milestones.
  • Assist with job cost reporting, billing support, and cash flow tracking.
  • Coordinate with field teams to ensure clear communication of project expectations and priorities.
  • Participate in project meetings and maintain meeting minutes and action item logs.
  • Support project closeout, including punch list completion, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and final documentation.
  • Assist with permitting, inspections, and utility coordination as required.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork across all project stakeholders.

Key Competencies/Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of electrical construction processes, including power distribution, lighting, controls, and low-voltage systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical construction drawings, specifications, and one-line diagrams.
  • Basic understanding of project financials, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project management software preferred.
  • Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and industry standards, including NEC and NFPA requirements, preferred.
  • 1–5 years of construction, electrical, or project coordination experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and navigating active job sites.
  • Ability to work in construction environments and access all areas of the project.
  • Ability to use computers and generate reports.
  • May require extended hours to support inspections and project milestones.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
