General Description

The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, financial performance, and successful completion of electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role oversees all aspects of project management, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, subcontractor coordination, client communication, and field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.

The Electrical Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams while fostering strong relationships and promoting a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and teamwork.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage electrical construction projects from award through final closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including job costing, billing, cash flow, and profitability.
  • Review contract documents, specifications, drawings, and project requirements to ensure successful execution.
  • Lead project planning meetings and coordinate activities with field leadership, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Manage procurement of materials and equipment to support project schedules.
  • Oversee submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation.
  • Negotiate and manage subcontractor agreements and vendor relationships.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents and field personnel to ensure labor resources, productivity, and project milestones are achieved.
  • Identify project risks and implement proactive solutions to minimize schedule or budget impacts.
  • Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Communicate project updates, financial status, and scheduling impacts to leadership and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety standards, contract requirements, and applicable codes.
  • Lead project closeout activities, including punch lists, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, and final documentation.
  • Mentor and support Project Engineers and other project team members.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Key Competencies/Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical construction, including power distribution, lighting, controls, and low-voltage systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical construction drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, and contract documents.
  • Strong understanding of project financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and industry standards, including NEC and NFPA requirements.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical construction project management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred (or equivalent industry experience).

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and navigating active construction job sites.
  • Ability to work in construction environments and access all areas of a project.
  • Ability to use computers and generate reports.
  • May require extended hours to meet project deadlines and support critical milestones.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
