Water/Wastewater Foreman

Position Title: Water/Wastewater Foreman

Reports to: Steam Fitter Superintendent

General Description

The Water/Wastewater Foreman is responsible for leading field crews and overseeing the day-to-day execution of wastewater construction projects. This role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements. The Water/Wastewater Foreman serves as the primary field leader, coordinating labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and communication between the field and project management team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead Water/Wastewater construction crews on job sites.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate daily work activities to meet project schedules and productivity goals.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing company safety policies, conducting daily jobsite safety meetings, and ensuring OSHA compliance.
  • Monitor workmanship to ensure quality standards and contract requirements are met.
  • Communicate project progress, challenges, and resource needs with Project Managers and Superintendents.
  • Track daily production, labor hours, equipment usage, and jobsite documentation.
  • Identify and resolve field issues while minimizing project delays.
  • Assist with project layout and verification of grades, elevations, and installation requirements.
  • Train, mentor, and develop field personnel while promoting teamwork and accountability.
  • Coordinate inspections and ensure compliance with local municipalities, owners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, inspectors, vendors, subcontractors, and fellow employees.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and company assets are properly maintained and utilized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • This is a union position.  Candidates must be members of a UA local or willing to join a UA local
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience in Water/Wastewater, underground utility, or heavy civil construction preferred.
  • Previous foreman or crew leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Water/Wastewater systems, underground piping, structures, excavation, and utility installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe construction practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in trenches, confined spaces, and around heavy equipment when required.
  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
