Project Overview
As part of their recent goal to ramp up production of their proprietary line of soups, Roundy’s hired Utah-based General Contractor The Dennis Group to increase its production area. Lee Plumbing Mechanical Contractors Inc. was brought on as a subcontractor, with primary responsibility for plumbing and gas piping projects.
The work, part of a $20 million expansion project, began in January 2018. The Lee team of up to eight plumbers and pipefitters worked at Roundy’s Kenosha facility on 52nd Street for over nine months before completion.
The project presented unique challenges to the crew, as all work had to be done while the facility remained in full production. This project encompassed the whole west side of Roundy’s building, even bumping into some areas that were still being occupied. All utility tie-ins had to be scheduled around production in very tight time frames.
Despite the challenges, the Lee team completed their tasks as planned. “Everything went well,” noted project manager Mike Wagner. Soup’s on!
